week 6

Continuing to hustle. so tired. not enough sleep. hmm why is that? oh yea I started waitressing at Precinct in Union Sq. & danced my heart out last night at MIN. 

Theme of Week: TRIAL BY FIRE.

I looked at my to-do list today and saw for Tuesday one item was - Update Blog. Well thank god I didn’t do that onTuesday. I evaluated by April spendings. over budget of course. So on the way home I stopped at Precinct and walked out with a job. word.

I also had a frantic moment on Monday that led to the desperate job hunt. I was starting to get overwhelmed with where to begin on different aspects of the biz. So I called my entrepreneur twin Lucy of Voltage Coffee. She gave me two bits of advice: 1. build an identity 2. get a part-time job

Waitressing is good for learning street smarts. Cinco de Mayo was my first night and I was thrown into 8 full tables- one was a 9 top. I survived. lucky we get two shift drinks at the end of the night 

If I want to open a venue that remotely deals with the nighttime crowd, I’d better watch and learn. And boy do I have a shit ton to learn still. Waitressing also got me back in the socializing game. Work is now Play. Now taking it back to the home office…

too much premeditated planning/research, sometimes it’s better to just wing it. with the decrease in free time, there is an increase in time value. I stopped waiting around and got shit done. Whipped up a 1 page PDF of my revised concept from last week’s initial surveys. Sent it out to a few key people I’ve been waiting on. Inquired about leasing space and also trial nights.

Lastly, I made ME time. much-deserved. Since I blew myself off on the Arboretum date, I instead strolled the park by my house this week. Inspiration struck. I collected a bunch of artifacts from nature and plan on using orange peels to create this whacky art project idea in my head. if it turns out well, I’m thinking of doing a proposal for the ICA family playdates come fall. YAY. i’m alive again.

yikes it’s 3:30am on a Friday. gnite world.

(how could i forget! got Burning Man tix. it’s essentially the large scale outdoor version of what I’m trying to do)
